Alexander B. Ambrose was born on June 8, 1995, to recently graduated Drs. Catherine and Robert Ambrose. His idol as an adolescent was his brother, now Dr. Eric Ambrose, as he tried to follow in Eric's footsteps, sometimes literally to Eric's chagrin. As a young adult, his friends assumed he was groomed and forced to follow his parents' life path, and at times felt the pressure of this fate. However, they did not understand that fate may have laid the path, yet walking it is his existential passion.

He received his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Colorado in 2017. He was proud of his accomplishment, but there was left with a sense of ineffectuality. So, he decided to pursue a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He persevered through lack of research funding by working as a graduate teaching assistance for the lab based course Fundamentals of Mechatronics. His research was focused on robotic medical devices, specifically prosthetics and orthotics for people living with limb loss or neuromuscular disorders. He earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering in 2024.

Besides his work, Alexander enjoys spending his time off camping, hiking, rock climbing, off roading, and pretty much anything else outdoors.
